British Commercial Vehicle Museum

Most of the models were exhibited on tables scattered around the main hall, probably about a dozen in all. There were 6 more tables in the “Conference Room”.
Pictures of many of the models appear below. You can click on most of them for more information.
The photographs were taken by Chris. Harris and Les. Nightingale. We were unable to collect much information about many of the models.

Railway Signal by Les. Nightingale. The arm is a hand made replica of one of the 1930s card parts. These were on a card with numerous press-out parts on a large sheet which came ih the smallest set in the early 1930s. (There are hardy any original ones left)

A Parade of Daleks and other Sci-Fy robots by Chris. Harris.


The Picnic Table near the Giant Meccano Bridge at Nob End near Little Lever in Greater Manchester. The parts are 10x the size of standard parts.

Tractor Unit (called a cab in the trade) for an articulated lorry.

Marks & Spencer/Meccano Model of a Spitfire. It has been critiised because this version appears to have a radial engine. Made by Chris. Harris.

A Display Of Junior Meccano Models




Simple Roundabout.
This model shows the use of strips 2.5 2 inches long between the centres of the end holes. This part enables a right angle to be braced. They were made on a 3D printer by Eric Wright.
