Ellenroad Steam Museum 5th. March

The Guild was invited to exhibit in the Engine House on a Steaming Day. Visitor numbers appeared to have recovered after the problems of recent years.

A large number of children enjoyed our collection of interactive models and there were many interested adults. 6 members were present and filled 7  tables with their models. The Chairman’s Models including the Diabolo.

The Nightingales’ models includinng a Festiniog Railway Fairlie Locomotive and a LBSC Terrier, built using Modelplans and a Canalside Crane.

Dick Watson’s Models including a Plastic Meccano Meccanograph and the Märklin Tower Crane featured on their small parts boxes. It has a Meccano Steam Engine instead of the original Märklin one.

On the right is an enlarged view of a model from the 1930s Steam Engine Manual and a Sanderson Beam Engine. This has a more compact version of Watt’s Parallel Motion than that on the full size one at the other end of the room.

Annual General Meeting, 11th. March 2023

Approximately 20 members attended the meeting and filled about 18 standard tables with a large selection of interesting models. A lunch of steak pie and apple pie  was served, one member, wife provided valuable assistance behind the counter.

Pictures of some of the models appear below.  Unfortunately, it was not possible  to take  good pictures of them all.

Neville Bond brought his Union Pacific Locomotive,  the Nightingales several small models. Derrick Murdie brought his Diabolo, the 18211 Racing Car, and a selection of the Eitech/Meccano combination Imperial War Museum Kits (these have a mixture of parts with either holes at ½” or 1 cm spacing.

Skegex

3 members took models to this year’s large exhibition at Skegness organised by the North Midlands Meccano Guild.

4 Members and one former member exhibited at this event organised by the Clwyd Vintage and Veteran Machinery Society. There was a lot of interest in our models and a good number of Plastic Meccano Models were built.
