Aug. 8 members visited Sale Library for the \u201cMarvellous Makers Meccano \u201c event, part of the Summer Reading Challenge. Veronica ran the Plastic Meccano Hands-On Workshop. It was very busy &#8211;&nbsp;about 43 models were built including many of the makers own design. Because we were very busy, not many photographs were taken. Some appear below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eric Wright brought his 3D printer, which has been used to make Meccano parts. It attracted a lot of interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northwestmeccano.co.uk\/wpimages\/wp4acb69e5_05_06.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stuart Field\u2019s model of the Barton Swing Aqueduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also brought models of a Tug Boat to go under it and a Narrow boat to go over it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Tug Boat is shown below as well as some of the models made by the Nightingales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northwestmeccano.co.uk\/wpimages\/wp11517017_05_06.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northwestmeccano.co.uk\/wpimages\/wp9f2ce260_05_06.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northwestmeccano.co.uk\/wpimages\/wpc000d22f_05_06.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northwestmeccano.co.uk\/wpimages\/wp737e77e4_05_06.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Plastic Meccano Models.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below is a general view of most of the models constructed at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the right is a picture showing some of the more interesting ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bury Transport Museum<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We were able to return to this museum, which we have visited several times in the past. Only a small number of members were able to attend, so that our exhibition was on the ground level of the former goods shed. This meant that the permanent exhibits formed a background to our photographs of our models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northwestmeccano.co.uk\/wpimages\/wpeec883d9_06.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Above is Stuart Field with his model of the Barton Swing Aqueduct with a narrow boat in front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Above right are two of John Nuttall\u2019s models &#8211;&nbsp;a No. 6 Set Articulated lorry and an Oil Tanker,from the Dec. 1956 Meccano Magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahead of the tanker is Mark Rolston with some of his detailed models of earth moving equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below are the Webmaster\u2019s models including a Patentee Locomotive constructed mainly from M\u00e4rklin parts based on their Der Adler instructions, a Constructo Hand Generator driving a 1920s Meccano Stamping Mill and the Plastic Meccano Meccanograph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Behind is a narrow gauge locomotive used the move materials about in the Horwich Works of the L &amp; Y Railway &#8211;&nbsp;the former owners of the Goods Shed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northwestmeccano.co.uk\/wpimages\/wpd2b82bc2_05_06.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northwestmeccano.co.uk\/wpimages\/wp933fcdd4_06.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the 10th.
